National Home Values Rise but Still Fail To Keep Pace With Inflation
Year-over-year home values continue to grow, but fell approximately 1.5 percentage points below July's 3.4% inflation rate. The Fed's increasing rates by 25 basis points contributes to increases in 30-year mortgage interest rates. Because homes go under contract a month or two before closing, this July data primarily reflects the spring's economic conditions.
